Football

I’ve included football in its own section because this site has largely been set up as a reference point for you to find me if you’re trying to book me for any of the things I do, and along with Radio, Podcasts and VoiceOvers it falls into the category of being another one of my jobs or services that I offer.

Really, in terms of jobs / services I suppose the category should be ‘Stadium Announcing’, but the simple fact is I got into this role because it was a way of being closer to the action at my own football club, and I can’t possibly imagine doing it for any other, anywhere else on the planet.

I could, and have announced for my national team on occasion, but my heart lies at Pittodrie with Aberdeen Football Club.

Always has, always will.

I’ve been the Match Day Stadium Announcer at Pittodrie since the 2005/2006 Season when the management team was ‘The Two Jimmys’ – Calderwood and Nicholl.

I’ve seen them be replaced by Mark McGhee, and in turn, Craig Brown with Archie Knox, Derek McInnes, Stephen Glass and now Jim Goodwin.

It is the greatest privilege of my life, and I recognise it’s not even my job, or my calling or however you want to romanticise the position.

I see the role more as being a custodian of a microphone until the next guy has a shot.

So, I guess in terms of it being something to showcase what I can do with a view to being an opportunity for you to potentially hire me, unless it’s for the National Team, or another sport entirely – it’s a useless page – but it’s the job I adore most in the world because of my love for the club, and I couldn’t not mention it here.
